University Farm Director at De Lacy Executive

Job Descrption
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Farm Manager to lead our renowned university farm, with a large dairy herd and a strong focus on teaching and research.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the farm, including budgeting, health and safety, and ensuring the farm's commercial viability while supporting its academic purpose.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee farm operations, including livestock and crop management
• Develop and implement effective budgeting and financial management strategies
• Purchase and maintain farm inputs, machinery, and equipment
• Collaborate with research and teaching colleagues to support the farm's academic mission
• Lead and mentor a team of farm staff, promoting a culture of excellence and safety
• Ensure compliance with farm assurance schemes and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of farm operations and performance
• Develop and submit subsidy... grant, and stewardship applications to support the farm's goals
About You
• Proven experience in farm management, with a strong background in dairy farming
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Strong knowledge of sustainable farming practices and a commitment to environmental stewardship
• Previous experience in people management and team leadership
• UK driving license and ability to travel as required
