Moffatt & Nichol is an independent global infrastructure advisor, offering analysis and cargo forecasting for ports and terminals, shipping, intermodal and hinterland markets, in addition to the company’s core engineering practices. We undertake a wide range of market studies, competitive and strategic analyses, transaction support, and commercial due diligence projects. Our clients include port and terminal operators, financial institutions such as infrastructure and pension funds, investment banks, private lending institutions, and government entities.
We are seeking a proactive individual to join our London office team, where the commercial advisory team's key personnel are situated and conduct shipping industry analysis. The Ports & Maritime Transport consultant will need to offer expert knowledge on the latest trends in container shipping, deliver insights for client reports regarding vessel calls in pertinent markets, and provide forecasts on future developments like vessel... orderbook, vessel size progression, and other shifts in the shipping industry that may affect our clients. Although the primary emphasis is on container shipping, the consultant should also analyze other shipping sectors, including dry bulk, tanker, and multipurpose shipping.
The role will report to the Advisory Lead and entails collaboration with the London-based team, which works in conjunction with Moffatt & Nichol's broader advisory group across the UK, US, and Latin America.
A key aspect of this role includes coordinating and contributing to Moffatt & Nichol’s Smart Analytics data intelligence dashboard. The ideal candidate will be proactive in developing and refining tools that bolster the team's market intelligence gathering and streamline the report writing process.
Having an interest in maritime transportation and logistics, especially shipping, is beneficial for excelling in this position.

Duties and responsibilities:

•Lead the team’s shipping intelligence gathering and reporting as well as the development and improvement of existing shipping intelligence tools
•Coordinate data consolidation and maintain data processing tools in close collaboration with MN’s Smart Analytics team
•Lead of contribute to production of high quality reports, taking ownership and responsibility for deliverables
•Directed and independent research for global projects
•Creating/developing presentation materials detailing analysis and results
•Identifying and implementing innovative ways to present analysis and results
•Liaising in person when practical, with internal and external clients and development teams including representing Moffatt & Nichol at client meetings
•A focus on quality deliverables, customer satisfaction, and maintaining and enhancing the group’s quality standards accreditation

Qualifications:
Candidates with a degree in economics, mathematics, operational research, or a supply chain/transport-related discipline are preferred.
A Master's degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience with a multinational international shipping or container company.
The perfect candidate will have significant industry experience, established relationships, and the capacity to build new connections within the sector.
We are looking for a mid-level manager with practical experience in a global shipping line, with knowledge of routing, pricing, deployment, and the decision-making processes within the industry.
