Job Descrption
This is a unique opportunity to develop research in the new Pears Maudsley Centre (PMC) which is a £90m state-of-the-art hub for mental health research focused on children, adolescents, young adults and their families. The post is based at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London which is a world leading mental health and neuroscience academic enterprise. It has the advantage of long standing, close links with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, so our research continues to fundamentally change and shape the understanding of mental illness and neurological disorders, leading to novel therapies and approaches to health and wellbeing.
Our unique collaborations include the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Maudsley that provides a unique environment to translate insights from discovery science into clinical care. The IoPPN has three schools, with over 1000 academic and... research staff, and more than 4000 under and post-graduate students, making us the largest centre for mental health research and education in Europe. IoPPN research was recognised for our world leading research environment and 100% research impact (REF 2021).
The successful candidate will be a clinical child psychologist with interests in contributing to the onward King’s Maudsley Partnership (KMP) research strategy for children’s mental health. They will bring an internationally recognised research programme and Principal Investigator experience relevant to children’s mental/neurodevelopmental disorders, the appointee will demonstrate impact through their work, be collegiate, progressive, and interdisciplinary by nature.
The choice of clinical service can be negotiated to ensure it meets a relevant service need and the clinical and research interests of the appointee. An appetite and passion for developing early career researchers and engaging with clinicians about research are welcome and desired qualities. A core responsibility of the role is to nurture a vision for how combined clinical and research capabilities can benefit local, national, and international populations.
