Strong Group are currently working with a well-established and rapidly growing M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) building services specialist based in Hertfordshire.
Having recently experienced significant growth, they are now seeking a talented Assistant to Intermediate Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding team on a permanent basis.
The company works across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, and retail, with project values of up to £10M.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual at an assistant or intermediate level who is looking to progress their career in the building services industry.
As an Assistant to Intermediate Mechanical Estimator , you will assist in preparing accurate and competitive mechanical cost estimates for M&E projects. Working closely with senior estimators and the wider commercial team, you will support tender preparation, cost analysis, and supplier liaison... ensuring bids are both commercially viable and technically sound. This role will provide invaluable experience across a wide variety of projects, with opportunities for learning and development.
Assist in reviewing tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare mechanical estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and ventilation systems.
• Work alongside senior estimators to obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with value engineering exercises to identify potential cost savings without compromising on quality or performance.
• Participate in pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients, suppliers, and project teams.
• Update and maintain estimation records and databases, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
• Assist in the handover process to project delivery teams, providing clarifications as necessary.
Experience in a Mechanical Estimator role at assistant or intermediate level within the M&E or building services industry.
• Basic understanding of mechanical services such as HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
• Competent in using estimation software and Excel for costing.
• Eagerness to learn, with a proactive and positive attitude towards professional development.
• Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering, building services, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
Competitive salary commensurate with experience (£30,000 - £50,000 pa DOE)
