Senior General Accountant at The Crown Estate

Are you passionate about maintaining the integrity of financial statements and driving process improvements? Join The Crown Estate as a Senior General Accountant, where you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our general accounting processes. This position is essential for generating accurate and insightful financial information for a range of internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
• Month-End Close Activities: Lead the delivery of month-end close activities, including the review and analysis of P&L accounts, Balance Sheet reconciliation, and journal entry postings to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Collaboration: Partner with the Commercial Finance team on month-end close activities and improvements to the Financial Statement Close Process.
• Ongoing Accounting Tasks: Work closely with the General Accounting Manager on monthly accounting tasks such as processing journal entries, allocations, completions, revaluations, and treasury services.
•... Process Transition: Assist in assessing and transitioning new processes from the wider finance community into General Financial Services, managing an effective front door process to evaluate process maturity and suitability.
• Automation and Innovation: Support the selection of intelligent tools for process automation and ensure the General Accounting team is upskilled accordingly. Collaborate with the finance projects team to drive process innovation through simplification, standardisation, centralisation, and automation.
• Service Improvement: Continuously enhance the service catalogue and corresponding processes offered to the wider finance community.
• Treasury Functions: Oversee treasury functions such as cash flow analysis, review of bank reconciliations, policy monitoring, and coordination with banks and stakeholders.
• Control Culture: Promote a culture of controls within the team, ensuring the operating effectiveness of all key controls across general ledger processes and related areas.

Personal Requirements:
• Qualifications: ACA/CIMA/ACCA fully qualified with significant work experience in a finance team.
• Technical Skills: Excellent technical accounting skills and knowledge of IFRS.
• Analytical Skills: Analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Pressure Handling: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Teamwork: Experience working within teams to achieve common goals.
• System Knowledge: Proficient user of integrated finance systems with a good understanding of internal financial controls.

• IT Skills: Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel. Proficiency or experience in VBA, Power tools (e.g., Power BI), Blackline, and Visio is desirable.
• Influencing Skills: Proven influencing skills.
• Collaborative Approach: Flexible approach to work and a collaborator.
