Technical Safety Engineer – Gas Treatment Plant Project
Responsibilities:
• Identification, assessment and management of major hazards in a range of activities across the business.
• Work closely with the organization including other discipline engineers, project teams, operations, and maintenance teams.
• Coordinate Project EPC Phase, maintenance of the safety cases and the supporting safety studies.
• Assess and apply various tools/studies such as HAZIDs/HAZOPs, ENVID, SIL fire and explosion analyses, and Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA).
• Lead the identification of measures to reduce risks.
• Ensure adherence to safety engineering and hazard management standards, assessing requested deviations.
• Update or develop new standards.
• Liaise with design teams and perform safety screening for design documentation.
• Initiate and participate in technical investigations, inspections, and audits.
• Conduct or attend project risk workshops.
• Prepare safety engineering and legislative... compliance studies.
• Identify foreseeable hazards and asset modifications for appropriate action during design and construction.
• Initiate measures to reduce design risks to ALARP.
• Contribute to company technical safety performance standards.
• Define and maintain company safety design standards.
• Prepare safety case review requests, health safety and environmental plans including environmental impact and mitigation forms.
• Provide advice to projects and lead engineers regarding technical safety matters.
• Review documentation from other disciplines or vendors for compliance with safety legislation and client requirements.
• Ensure major hazards are properly assessed, evaluated, and managed.
• Undertake visits both onshore and offshore as required.
Minimum Requirements:
• Master in Safety/Process Engineering with a degree in industrial risk management; a postgraduate qualification in safety engineering or hazard and risk management is an advantage.
• Experience in the gas or petrochemical industry with a thorough understanding of technologies and practices related to oil and gas production facilities.
• Understanding of effective hazard and risk management in an operating environment and a keen interest in developing a career in this area.
• Self-motivation, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good customer focus are key attributes.
• Excellent written and verbal skills in English are required.
• Knowledge of fire water system design, blast calculation & mitigating measures, overpressure protection measures, and inherently safer design techniques.
• Work experience in greenfield gas treatment plant projects.
• Minimum 15 years of work experience as a Safety Engineer.
• Will require business trips to Iraq.
