Job Descrption
We are seeking a highly skilled Materials and Corrosion Engineer to join our team in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing corrosion prevention strategies, selecting materials, and overseeing corrosion monitoring and mitigation across various operations. This role requires extensive knowledge of materials science, corrosion control, and industry standards, with a focus on enhancing asset integrity and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement corrosion management strategies for oil and gas facilities, including pipelines, tanks, offshore platforms, and processing plants.
• Conduct materials selection for various applications, ensuring they meet project requirements and environmental conditions.
• Evaluate and specify coatings, linings, cathodic protection systems, and other corrosion control measures.
• Perform failure analysis on materials and components, identifying root causes and recommending... solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate and conduct corrosion monitoring activities, including field inspections, electrochemical testing, and data analysis.
• Provide technical support for project teams during design, construction, commissioning, and operations phases to ensure material and corrosion considerations are addressed.
• Develop and maintain corrosion management documentation, including reports, procedures, and records.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, such as NACE, API, ASME, and ASTM.
• Work closely with maintenance, inspection, and engineering teams to improve asset integrity and longevity.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and field personnel on corrosion prevention best practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in materials and corrosion engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, and corrosion control techniques in upstream, midstream, and downstream applications.
• Familiarity with industry standards, including NACE, API, ASME, and ASTM.
• Proficiency in corrosion modelling software and materials testing methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Certification in corrosion engineering (e.g., NACE CP or CIP) is preferred
