The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, working to deliver a gold standard service to the publishing department. This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for books and publishing.
What You'll Do
As a Junior Commercial Finance Analyst, your role will be pivotal in supporting senior members of the commercial finance team. You will be involved in various tasks from assisting with the preparation of annual budgets to conducting month-end analysis and reporting. Your ability to ensure that the publishing schedule of titles is accurately reflected in budgeting and forecasting will be crucial. You'll also... liaise with different teams to collect necessary data and prepare summary schedules for review. Additionally, you'll maintain an accurate schedule showing the pipeline of acquisitions and complete various month-end tasks. Your role will also involve ensuring timely preparation of reports for review before monthly divisional executive meetings.
• Assist with preparation of annual budget, month end analysis and reporting, monthly forecasting, profitability reviews, licensor reporting, and other ad hoc reporting.
• Ensure the publishing schedule of titles is accurately reflected in budgeting and forecasting.
• Liaise with publishing teams to collect data needed for budgeting and forecasting.
• Prepare summary schedules for Commercial Manager review.
• Maintain schedule showing pipeline of acquisitions.
• Complete a variety of month end tasks including preparation of provision for retrospective discounts granted to retailers.
• Ensure timely preparation of reports for review before monthly divisional executive meetings.
What You Bring
As a Junior Commercial Finance Analyst, you bring a commitment to studying for an accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) along with experience in a fast-paced finance team or office environment. Your ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance colleagues will be invaluable in this role. We're looking for a quick learner who can understand processes and carry them out accurately with minimal supervision. Your excellent administrative skills coupled with proficiency in Excel will set you apart. A high level of attention to detail and good analytical skills are also key to success in this role.
• Finance graduate with commitment to studying for an accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
• Experience in a fast-paced finance team or office environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance colleagues.
• Quick learner who can understand processes and carry them out accurately.
• Excellent administrator with very good excel skills. (V-lookup, SUMIF, Pivot table etc.)
• High level of attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Passion for books and publishing
