The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking candidates to fill an Assistant Environmental Engineer position within the Bureau of Air Quality’s Division of Licensing & Compliance in Augusta.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This entry-level environmental engineering position in the Licensing and Compliance Division of the Bureau of Air Quality is responsible for reviewing and processing air emission license applications for industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities throughout the state in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations; conducting compliance assistance activities; writing, reviewing, and analyzing technical reports; and participating in rule making activities, as assigned. The position interfaces with facilities and their consultants, staff from the Bureau of Air Quality and from other bureaus in the Department, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the public, and other interested parties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; or a related Engineering field. Related experience may be substituted for education.
An example of a related engineering field would be Bioengineering.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: For candidates that are non-engineering college graduates or non-degreed candidates: Engineer-Intern Certification as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
