If so, you may be a great candidate for a Rehabilitation Assistant position in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation seeks a candidate for a full-time Rehabilitation Assistant to be based at the  Lewiston CareerCenter. The individual hired for this position will work with a team of Vocational Rehabilitation professionals to assist individuals with a wide variety of disabilities to reach their employment goals.  This new time-limited position will conduct outreach to community organizations to share information about the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and will also directly assist jobseekers to access our services. A particular focus of this position will be on reaching individuals from marginalized and underserved communities.  Given the nature of job responsibilities, certain positions may be subject to fingerprinting as part of the background process, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.

Primary responsibilities include:  

  • Supports individuals with disabilities to access Vocational Rehabilitation programs and services
  • Provides outreach to individuals and organizations from marginalized communities
  • Communicates with eligible clients who have been on a waitlist for services to determine their current needs
  • Supports the work of Vocational Rehabilitation through clerical and administrative tasks including data collection, data input, and report     development
  • Represents the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation at community events including job and resource fairs.

Skills or knowledge required:

  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of various means of communication.
  • Knowledge of persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of teaching and counseling methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of interviewing and intake methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of life skills and work methods.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to write and record the results of medical, audiological, vocational, and psychological tests.
  • Ability to use state of the art office equipment.

Minimum qualifications:

Two (2) years of experience, education, or training in working with individuals with disabilities
