The Production Manager is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of a fast-moving warehouse environment. Responsible for the day to day management of people within the warehouse function, to ensure company's targets and objectives are met and ensuring that staff comply with health, safety and standard operating procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Promote compliance with all relevant company policies and government regulations including OSHA
Lead by example through results-focused, people-centered direction, feedback, and coaching
Serve as first point of contact for all employee relations and system operational issues
Develop effective processes to maintain system performance through shift changes, high volume periods, and irregular operations in conjunction with other stakeholders
Maintain open and transparent relationships with customer and other vendor contacts to ensure maximum system performance
Ensure operational process consistency and employee development through the design and execution of uniform training and assessment programs
Follow established escalation guidelines in the event of system downtime or irregular operations
Manage employee schedules and daily work assignments in conjunction with other stakeholders
Leverage detailed reporting to understand system performance and implement continuous improvement projects around employee performance and system operations
Coordinate with Maintenance Team to ensure minimal system impact in the execution of preventive and ad hoc maintenance activities
Participate and lead (as necessary) team, site, and customer meetings to ensure open, effective communications centered on collaborative efforts to meet production goals
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience managing associates
Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals
Strong attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills and judgment in communicating with staff.
Receptive to management development suggestions and willing to seek additional knowledge to facilitate job growth.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must have very strong customer service orientation with high sense of urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
Must possess the ability to formulate and utilize advanced planning tools and to manage time in an efficient manner
Supervise and control order picking, goods in, goods out operations to ensure accuracy with minimum handling and stock damage
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
3+ years of Supervisor Experience
Previous experience with material handling automation in an automated warehouse a plus
Forklift certification per OSHA standards a plus
Flexibility to work shifts as assigned including nights and weekends
Ability to work overtime as needed
