Turner Industries is hiring a Pipeline Technician to join our team in the St. Gabriel, LA area.
The Pipeline Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of pipelines, terminals, and associated equipment, including pipeline valve sites, mains, metering units and pump stations. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.
- This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution for management and response to One-Call Tickets submitted by excavators who wish to conduct work near the Operator's underground utilities.
- Has experience in underground pipeline and utility locating (i.e. electronic locating equipment & probe rods).
- Be familiar with different types of excavating equipment, safe excavating practices or has received/obtained Competent Persons training in Excavation.
- Has the ability to read and comprehend maps, survey data, alignment sheets, and project plans.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office.
- A clean driving record and up to date insurance.
Functional Requirements:
- Maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair pipeline equipment, associated computer programming, and electronic control systems used in pipeline systems
- Monitor control systems for indications of system errors or failures including leak detection or pressure fluctuations
- Conduct site-based activities that evaluate pipeline product measurement and quality
- Perform on-site preventative and corrective pipeline maintenance and damage prevention activities
- Complete inspections, monitor systems, collect samples, and report test results.
- Conduct remote metering and other remote facilities operations
- Utilize computer applications and specialized programs to test pipeline system functions and maintain accurate records
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Qualification Standards:
- High school or equivalent
- Industrial experience required (2 years preferred)
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand tools
- Additional training may be required according to jobsite duties (HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, DOT)
- TWIC Card (or ability to obtain a TWIC card)
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Pre-Employment qualification test if applicable
- Hazard Communication orientation/test
- Turner Industries Group Indoctrination
- OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87)
- Job site orientation
- Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Physical Involvement:
May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing / data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment

- Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites; pipe fabrication facility
- Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
- Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
