Job title: Payroll Manager
Salary: Starting at $85k to $106k an year, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
Location: Hillsboro, Oregon
The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. They manage the Payroll Specialists and report to the VP of Finance.
Every part of Payroll must connect with the Mission, Vision, and Values of PARR. Every Payroll function aligns with and helps facilitate the Company's business strategies while working to develop engaged, efficient employees.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll experience required
- 3+ years of people management experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Proficient with payroll software
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Mastery of oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Must be able to type 50+ WPM
Duties and Responsibilities
People Management Responsibilities
- Develop and coach all direct reports, utilizing evaluations, pay and all other development tools while setting clear expectations for each
- Objectively mentors entire management team through complex and difficult issues
- Establish and maintain an excellent working environment for all team members
- Identify and respond to the need for personnel changes on the team, and take the lead in hiring new team members
- Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross training, open communication, and continuing education
- Foster a service first attitude with the team towards our customers - the employees of PARR
- Challenge entire Payroll team to be learning and gaining experience in all areas of PARR's business
- Participate in on-site visits to company locations during acquisitions, in addition to established locations for continuing education.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of education and training curriculum related to the payroll system, including navigation, reporting and best practices.
- Participate in all manager meetings as required
Payroll Duties
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions in a timely manner
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Reconcile bills as needed
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting team and other teams as necessary
- Leverage HMIS system to the fullest extent possible to enhance both the employee and manager experience
- Performs other duties as assigned
This position works in an office environment at a desk with a computer.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment
- Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
- Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
- Both local and overnight travel will be required
