Job DescriptionSupports the Assistant Director of Physiotherapy in implementing standardized physiotherapy services according to established policies and procedures within the Physiotherapy Department and Satellite Clinics. Assists in the development of patient care processes and guidelines for the clinical area, including the scheduling of physiotherapists based on daily patient acuity. Aids in maintaining and monitoring the functionality, availability, and repair of physiotherapy medical equipment specific to the clinical area.• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Physiotherapy and/or Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy• Master s Degree in Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy preferred• Current license of practice in country of origin or country point of hire and/or Dubai Health Authority (DHA), United Arab EmiratesPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:• Minimum of five (5) years of experience post-certification as a Junior Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist• Excellent English verbal and written... communication skills• Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and theory of the practice of physical therapy • Knowledge of pathologies and injuries that result in physical impairment • Knowledge of evaluation and treatment methodologies as applied to complex patients• Knowledge of regulatory practice requirements • Knowledge of legal issues affecting the practice of Physical Therapy• Knowledge of the Code of Ethics and performance standards as outlined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) • Knowledge of basic principles of clinical supervision and clinical instruction• Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area• Ability to provide appropriate care and progress treatment based on professional standards of practice, and on the needs of the specific individual, including age, cultural and psychosocial issues, precautions and medical condition• Ability to utilize sound clinical reasoning to determine appropriate patient interventions; demonstrates good safety awareness, judgment and problem analysis and resolution• Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely and effectively with patients, families, co-workers, visitors, supervisors and other health professionals• Ability to apply advanced clinical skills in treating difficult and complex cases • Ability to clinically supervise, train and evaluate students/interns• Ability to develop, implement and adapt treatment programs• Ability to evaluate patients interpret clinical data and make clinical judgments• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others Quality and Accuracy:• Performs independently the assigned clinical and technical tasks with confidence, the ability to prioritize tasks and perform critical thinking following the hospital and the department clinical policy and procedures.• Performs initial and comprehensive patient care assessments follow-up assessments and re-assessments following the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) clinical standards and guidelines. • Performs the initial and comprehensive patient care assessment and follow-up assessment and re-assessments that include, cognitive score assessment (GCS), cardio-respiratory assessment of patient s vital signs (HR, BP, RR, and SPO2), Musculoskeletal assessment (ROM/MMT), pain score assessment (VAS/FLACC), integumentary assessment (swelling, bruising), the risk for fall, patient care goals, patient care plans, patient care outcome and patient education. • Provides the appropriate physiotherapy services and/or physiotherapy modalities as clinically indicated and/or based on the patient s clinical diagnosis and/or current presenting symptoms. • Applies the appropriate physiotherapy modalities based on the patient care plan following the correct treatment frequency, time duration and the device settings and/or intensity and/or frequency required during the patient s treatment. • Selects and executes the appropriate measurement procedures and/or tools to assess the patient's clinical status, such as joint ROM tests, manual muscle tests, and functional and coordination tests before, during and after each patient treatment.• Selects and executes the appropriate supportive and assistive devices and/or equipment preventing possible harm and/or injury to the patient and/or damage to the equipment.• Provides the patient, the patient s relative and other medical staff with physiotherapy clinical and technical education whenever required.• Performs and monitors the department s Quality Measures requirements and participates in Quality Improvement activities and other department projects.• Reports all patient care-related incidents and/or customer service complaints to improve patient care services.• Assists the department in the initiation and reviews of the department s clinical policy and procedure whenever required.• Implements standardized physiotherapy services following the established clinical policy and procedures of the Physiotherapy Department in the Hospital and Satellite Clinics.• Establishes the patient care process and guidelines specific to the clinical area including the scheduling of physiotherapists allocation based on patient s daily acuity.• Maintains and monitors the functionality, availability and repairs of physiotherapy medical equipment specific to the clinical area.Quantity and Organizational Skills:• Provides physiotherapy services equivalent to twenty (20) sessions and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and with each session limited to 15 minutes that may include any of the following modalities listed below:• Patient Initial Assessment and Re-assessment• Cryotherapy/Heat Therapy• Manual Therapy• Massage Therapy• Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)• Therapeutic Exercises• Ultrasound Therapy• Interferential Therapy• Mechanical Traction Therapy• Electrical Current Therapy
