Job Details
Due to promotion and further expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a general practice surveyor to join the Estates Team within Property Services. Whilst applications from RICS qualified surveyors are preferred applications from part qualified and experienced commercial property surveyors will be considered. You will undertake a wide range of professional duties, including landlord/tenant activities whilst assisting in the delivery of a comprehensive Estates Service.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified General Practice Surveyor with extensive experience of commercial property management. The successful applicant will predominately be involved in landlord & tenant activity including lease renewal/termination, rent reviews and general commercial property estate management tasks relating to the Council's non housing land and buildings, however they will require to provide a broad range of professional advice, and be prepared to undertake activities ranging from; asset valuation, acquisition, disposal, property development related tasks. You will use judgement and experience pragmatically to make decisions, interpret and apply national legislation, providing guidance and applying relevant Council policy.
The position requires someone who is enthusiastic committed, self motivated, has a positive, professional and responsible attitude, with the ability to work as part of a team working to tight timescales.
You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the principals of customer care, while displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Person
Ideally you should hold appropriate property related degree level qualification and a proven track record in a professional surveying environment as well as a knowledge of the property market and relevant current legislation. Holding professional membership of the RICS with a Registered Valuer or willingness to achieve such status would be advantageous.
