Job Details

The Kinship Team provide support to Kinship families across Fife. An exciting opportunity has arisen within this team for 2 posts to develop intensive support to Kinship families in crisis where there is a risk of family breakdown. This support would be provided through direct work, small groups with young people and identifying other appropriate sources of support. The team is part of a wider strategy to ensure that families in Fife get the right support at a time when it is needed most. 

You will be required to work a shift pattern on a rota which encompasses both days, evenings, weekends (every 3rd off) and public holidays. Enhancements are payable for unsocial hours at the weekends and public holidays.

These shifts can be reviewed dependent on the needs of the service.

Day to day task include, but are not restricted to:

  • Work closely with colleagues in Kinship team, area teams and partner agencies to  identify short term support plans, and desired outcomes for support.
  • Providing focused and flexible support to families, working creatively to stabilise a young person’s living situation utilising a strength based, solution focused approach reflecting the principles of The Promise and GIRFEC.
  • Through small group work Identify and promote engagement of young people in community activities that will decrease isolation, provide a focus and be a sustainable area of support.

The Person

Experience in a relevant setting either dealing with crisis or working with children, young people and their families.

Knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols.

Experience of joint working to achieve common goals.

Experience of providing direct one to one support to families and young people

Experience of working independently.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
