Zachry is currently seeking an experienced Project Environmental Coordinator for our new construction GTPP-ISBL project located in Orange, TX.
Responsibilities: The Project Environmental Coordinator works under the direction of the Project Environmental Manager at the construction site and assists with all project site environmental compliance activities as required by government regulations, permits obtained by the Project Owner and delegated by contract to ZII, permits obtained by ZII, its affiliates or partner companies, and other environmental requirements as may be approved by either the Project Environmental Manager or the Manager, Environmental Services. The Project Environmental Coordinator assists project management and various crafts and departments as necessary to maintain environmental compliance.
Job Functions and Requirements
Assists Project Environmental Manager with compliance issues
Assists implementation and update of the Site Environmental Management Plan
Daily site inspections including preparation of daily reports or logs
Assists with permit management and implementation
Assist coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies
Spill response and mitigation including assistance with incident reports
Assist personnel orientation and training in environmental responsibilities
Assist Environmental Manager with Subcontractor environmental commitments
Waste storage, handling, and disposal management assistance according to regulations
Petroleum storage and handling oversight including fuel storage tanks, drums and containers, lubricants, and other petroleum by-products
Assist the Project Environmental Manager with additional environmental responsibilities as may be required
Animal and endangered species control
Assist Environmental Manager with material recordkeeping and storage oversight including Flammable Storage Cabinets
Work outdoors 60 to 75%
Required Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED
Personable and able to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements.
Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced training or education in the Environmental or Technical Field, or education and experience commensurate with job requirements.
1 to 3 years of experience in construction and environmental work is preferred.
Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage.
Computer skills in MS Word, beneficial.
Minimum Education required (none, high school, AA, BA, etc.): High School
Physical Requirements
The employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
Will talk and hear to communicate.
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls, and tools.
May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to a hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.
