District Sales Manager - Western Michigan at Emerson

We are looking for a dedicated  District Sales Manager (DSM) role located in Western Michigan. Ideally west of Lansing. You will be responsible for leading and growing an established territory covering a large geography and a complex customer base.   AS A DISTRICT SALES MANAGER, YOU WILL: 
  1. Sales Strategy and Execution:
    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans to achieve sales targets within an assigned territory.
    • Identify new business opportunities and market trends, and capitalize on them to drive revenue growth.
    • Build and maintain a sales pipeline, ensuring consistent follow-up and closure of sales opportunities.
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of the competition.
  2. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Maintain strong relationships with existing distribution and key customers.
    • Understand customer needs, provide technical expertise, and offer solutions that align with their requirements.
    • Address customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  3. Sales Reporting and Forecasting:
    • Prepare regular sales reports, including sales activity, customer feedback, and market trends analysis.
    • Provide accurate sales forecasts and participate in the annual budgeting process.
  4. Industry Knowledge and Product Expertise:
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies related to the Discrete Automation Group.
    • Develop a deep understanding of Discrete Automation Group’s product portfolio.
  5. Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to customers, showcasing the value proposition of Emerson's products and solutions.
  WHO YOU ARE:

You are a committed sales professional who ensures accountability and collaborates and builds networks within a growing organization. You instill trust in the customers you serve and develop Win-Win situations for your customers and Emerson by having a strategic attitude. You show resourcefulness and are resilient at balancing stakeholders’ goals.

  REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industrial sales experience
  • 3 years of Industrial or automation experience 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal & negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust and close deals.
  • Proven understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Technical proficiency with the ability to understand technical issues and troubleshoot problems.
  • Validated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel 25% with overnight and extended travel days within the assigned territory. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Fluid Power knowledge/experience
  • Experience in Industrial Automation market space
  • Proficiency in using CRM software, preferably Salesforce
  • Solid understanding of discrete automation solutions supporting technologies listed below preferred:
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Automation Software
    • Fluid Power/Pneumatic control – factory automation
    • Fluid Control technology – process, industrial, analytical
