Requirements for consideration:
- Bachelor's Degree in Perfusion technology
- Five years’ experience as a clinical Perfusionist complex cases
- Certified Clinical Perfusionist required upon start.
- Basic Life Support by AHA required upon start.
Job Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- The Perfusion Service Lead ensures the effective and efficient functioning of the unit and the achievement of optimal patient outcomes.
- Delivers safe, high quality and cost-effective perioperative services. Serves as the chief clinical leader and resource for the assigned perfusion specialty and/or unit while ensuring unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements, and the Joint Commission standards.
- Ensures practice improvements by providing direction and guidance to others regarding preoperative services and specialty.
- Utilizes the Joint Commission standards, peer reviewed evidence-based literature and AMSECT guidelines to support a surgical care delivery system that produces quality care with optimal outcomes.
- Inventories existing pathways and assists team members in identifying appropriate plans of care. Recognizes points at which variances frequently occur, appropriately studies variances for trends and implements appropriate strategies to respond.
- Identifies strategies for cost-effective and efficient practices without compromising preoperative patient safety or outcomes. Promotes creative thinking among staff, peers and colleagues to develop new and innovative devices, practices and strategies to advance and improve preoperative nursing services.
- Serves as primary liaison, clinical lead and resource for the assigned surgical specialty and/or unit while ensuring unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements and the Joint Commission standards.
- Adheres to all Inova Health System's policies and procedures while coaching staff on compliance and consistently identifying clinical and operational variables affecting patient and case outcomes. Makes clinical decisions based on education and experience while integrating varied patient experiences into clinical decision-making. Mentors team members in identifying intra-operative outcomes.
- Ensures practice improvements by serving as role model, providing direction and providing guidance to others regarding perfusion services and specialty.
- Collaborates with leadership on unit participation for emergency preparedness activities. Conducts education and coordinates emergency/trauma surgical skill training in addition to participating in unit-specific drills.
