Inova is seeking a self-motivated, high performing Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to provide world-class nutrition education and counseling to patients participating in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. In this full time, Monday through Friday role, you will provide nutrition education and support to patients at the Inova Alexandria and Inova Mount Vernon outpatient programs. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within these programs, you will have the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of Exercise Physiologists, Nurses, and Respiratory Therapists to improve quality of life, reduce disease risk and support behavior change.
Schedule: 5 day/week coverage, Mon/Tues/Thur at Inova Alexandria Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, Wed/Fri at Inova Mount Vernon Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. (32 hours per week)

Requirements for consideration:
- Master's degree with Accredited Dietetic Internship
- Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree
- 2 years as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- Required Upon start: Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) + one of the following specialty certifications CSG; CSOWM, CSO, CSP, CSPCC, CSR, CSSD, CNSC, or CDECE.
- Basic Life Support through AHA within 3 months of hire
Job Responsibilities:
- The Dietitian Clinical Specialist provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. Incorporates differences into the provision of care by integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
- Acts as a resource to physicians, nurses and other allied professional healthcare team members to provide patients with optimum nutritional care.
- Assists healthcare team members with documentation related to nutrition.
- Develops and revises patient education materials and evaluates effectiveness.
- Assess educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
- Documents education according to standards in the medical record.
- Participates as a guest speaker at community events, seminars, workshops or professional events.
- Develops and implements an individualized plan for professional growth and development.
- Recognizes trends in patient populations, explores alternatives to care and makes revisions to standards.
- Collects performance improvement data, monitors outcomes and implements corrective actions.
- Performs other duties as required.
