JOB SUMMARY:
A mentorship experience that gives students an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to both corporate and manufacturing accounting organizations. This co-op will gain practical experience with regard to month end close, accounting controls, standard costing, general ledger and accounting systems. Depending on experience, they may be given opportunities to lead their own projects.
ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Collaborate on project teams.
- Actively engage in the month end closing process.
- Monitor and confirm production and consignment inventories.
- Compile and report commissions, fixed assets, rebates, accounts receivable and/or accounts payable.
- Compile management reporting packages.
- Support internal/external audit activities and ensure accounting controls are in place and tested.
- Perform financial analysis for new product development, capital initiatives, and business projects.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Enrollment in a 4 year accredited degree program, working towards a BS in accounting, finance or other applicable degree.
- Must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior status.
- No prior co-op experience required.
COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Desirable to have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to relate classroom knowledge to job-related duties.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
