GHD, a global leader in professional services, is seeking an experienced People Advisor to join our UK team for a 6-month fixed term assignment. This is an exciting opportunity to provide interim support, contribute to HR programs, and work on key initiatives that shape our organization's success.

The Role

As a Junior People Business Partner, you will play a vital role in providing day-to-day advisory support across all teams in the UK region. You'll lead standard people processes such as hiring, onboarding, and offboarding, while supporting Business Partners with key programs and projects. We're seeking someone who can hit the ground running, is quick to learn, and thrives in a self-serve systems environment.

Reporting to the Regional People Leader, you'll collaborate closely with business partners, line managers, and other members of the GHD People Team, including the EMEA Talent Acquisition team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partner:
    • Participate in the creation and implementation of people programs & strategies.
    • Identify people risks and challenges, collaborating with Senior Business Partners to implement best practice solutions.
    • Support volume and strategic hiring initiatives and programs.
    • Continually assess and prioritize HR needs of the business/group.
       
  • Change Agent:
    • Execute and support day-to-day management of change plans in alignment with business priorities.
    • Utilize engagement tools to assess employee engagement and develop action plans.
    • Collaborate with leaders to build a high-performance culture and increase staff wellbeing and engagement.
    • Deliver presentations to inform various business groups of relevant people issues and initiatives.
       
  • Enabler & Champion:
    • Evaluate and handle Employee Relations issues as they arise.
    • Champion effective performance discussions and feedback culture.
    • Proactively manage employee issues such as grievances and performance.
    • Support development and continuous improvement of employment policies and practices.
    • Oversee and improve compliance activities in the region.
       
  • Functional Resource:
    • Support delivery of projects within the People Team, such as engagement activities and talent identification.
    • Manage transfers in and out of the region, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
    • Participate in and deliver HR projects and activities.
    • Provide trusted advice and support to Line Managers.
    • Respond effectively to queries from managers & staff about HR activities.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advisory support experience in fast-paced, growing businesses.
  • Good knowledge of employee relations and handling routine cases independently.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with line managers at all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making & business acumen in employee relation matters.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Attention to detail.
