Houston Based Hybrid Work Schedule
I. Job Summary
This position provides support and oversight to ensure the implementation of established environmental, health, and safety policies, programs, and processes, so that operations are managed to keep people safe and to protect the environment. This includes ensuring compliance/conformance with: environmental and safety legal requirements; Corporate Environmental Protection and Safety programs and requirements; and regulatory and permit related environmental and safety requirements. Manages assigned EHS program(s) and information systems to achieve goals and meet company and/or regulatory requirements. Utilize ability to professionally interface with various levels of staff within WM and WM Renewable Energy (WMRE).
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support all elements of a comprehensive Environmental Protection and Compliance Program for ~ 70 WMRE facilities; to include US DOT Pipelines; RNG facilities; Medium BTU facilities; Electricity Generating Plants located on WM and 3rd Party sites to continuously improve environmental protection and compliance with US EPA and State regulatory agency requirements and permits.
- Support the management of internally generated waste at the facility level with a specific emphasis on state and federal hazardous waste compliance.
- Support all elements of a comprehensive Health and Safety Program for ~ 70 WMRE Plants / ~ 160 WMRE Operations personnel to continuously improve employee / facility safety and ensure compliance with OSHA / State regulations.
- Support all elements of a comprehensive Pipeline Safety Program for all “active” and “idle” WMRE Pipelines subject to US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) / State Pipeline Safety Agency jurisdiction to continuously improve pipeline safety, public protection and compliance with PHMSA / State regulatory requirements. Evaluates 3rd Party pipelines tied to WMRE projects.
- Support a comprehensive Training Program for ~160 WMRE Operations personnel, to increase awareness of key Environmental Protection and Compliance, Health and Safety and Pipeline Safety issues.
- Support continuous improvement of comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety, and Pipeline Safety Programs through participation / review of information collected through Internal Audits; Accident / Injury / Incident investigations; Site Assessments; Regulatory Agency inspections; to establish best practices, reference resources and creation of CYCLE tasks.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of, HS Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years relevant experience
- Preferred: Previous experience managing hazardous waste; Knowledge of PSM/RMP requirement
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Required: Knowledge of regulatory environment including environmental protection, compliance, and OSHA regulations.
- Preferred: CHMM, CSP, ASP certifications
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Must be proficient with MS Office applications with particular expertise in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. SharePoint expertise is also preferred.
- Strong organizational and both verbal/written communication skills
D. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities that Contribute to Success
- Ability to handle successfully multiple projects at one time
- Initiative to work independently, but also effective in a team setting
- Strong and effective communicator both written and verbally
- Ability to do research and learn about varied topics (including Internet research) and summarize information in simple-to-understand fashion

- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with all levels of internal and external customers, from frontline worker to upper management
E. Travel
- Must be willing and able to travel a minimum of 25%.

- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements occasionally;
- Ability to drive company pickup or rental car and work remotely, when necessary;
- Normal setting for this job is: office setting/landfill or industrial setting.
