Patient Care Tech Cardiac Full Time Nights Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides individualized, culture-specific patient care by attending to the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists the professional or licensed nurse as delegated in tasks requiring less technical skills. Participates in shift and bedside report, performs phlebotomist duty, clerical/reception unit clerk duties as assigned, and assists in promoting an organized, efficient, smoothly functioning unit. Participates and supports regional, facility, department, and unit initiatives.
Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; basic computer skills; high level of attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors, and health care team members. Knowledge of patient rights, medical terminology, aseptic/sterile technique, and infection control best practices. Ability to work under deadlines.
THE PATIENT CARE TECH CARDIAC FULL TIME NIGHTS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Minimum experience: Must be able to complete blood draws independently.
Preferred experience: One year of experience in an acute care setting.
Required courses training: EKG training in selected units.
Preferred certifications/registration: CNA/LNA from the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided. Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime. Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy. Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
Education:
Required: Graduated from a state approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
Experience:
Preferred: Recent acute care experience.
Certifications:
Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; CPR. AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
