Overview:
This is a really great opportunity to join a support and development team of circa 10 members as a Developer. You will provide expertise, addressing areas of known weakness and concern in addition to troubleshooting and incident and problem resolution. Our team are dedicated to providing excellent client service and are always looking to expand on our ability to improve service provided to our clients ( internally and externally) and future proofing through the innovative use of new tools and technology .
You will work on primarily our PRISM Oracle system - a key system for our business but this will bring you into working across a number of services and other interfacing Applications and systems within our Corporate Markets area of the business, bringing with it variety, knowledge building and collaboration with multi-skilled teams. You will be required to build relationships with these other teams and your own team, who are spread across the UK as well as with colleagues in our Mumbai offices.
The team meet regularly on weekly calls to discuss the week gone by and ahead looking at priorities and achievements but also attend daily stand-ups, knowledge sharing sessions and providing ad hoc support in general.
You will have the opportunity to assist in the design, build and unit test code for the Corporate Markets systems as part of the Projects team as directed by the Architecture & Solutions Delivery Teams through the leadership of the Systems Delivery Manager.
This role is based from our Leeds City Centre office, which is a few minutes walk from the train station and on several bus routes. This role does allow for working from home, however you will need to be in the office at least one day a week.
What you’ll be doing:
• Delivering code that provides new functionality, remediates problems or issues
• Finding, articulating and designing out the relevant weaknesses and legacy wherever possible, in addition to being proactive in highlighting what is possible to the leadership team to gain support to remedy
• Production of documentation (e.g. design, specifications) in all contacted systems is also a must, either through the introduction of new code (via Release Note and technical documentation) or through the analysis of code during bug fixes, incidents and problem resolves
• Working with the Development Team lead and Systems Delivery Manager to design, build and test code
• Ensuring the resolution of issues, incidents and problems within systems due to code, design or data issues
• Working to ensure code is of good quality without significant rework being required and without introducing performance or security issues into live services
What we’re looking for:
• A team player
• Demonstrable working knowledge and understanding of Oracle, .NET and C#
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of colleagues at all levels across the globe
• Experience of writing unit tests & working with tooling such as, but not limited to, ADO for controlling of work allocation and progress
• A good understanding and experience of the full software development lifecycle, with demonstrable support experience of legacy systems and platforms
• Flexible and pro-active with the drive and desire to deliver results and make a difference
• Technical and commercial awareness, a fast learner with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
• An understanding of the challenges of legacy v’s modern and a willingness to address the former
• Object-oriented programming skills and an understanding of SDLC principles would be advantageous but not essential
