Your Impact

Hearst Magazines’ Central Commerce Team is looking for a senior editor to oversee the execution of commerce content for our Enthusiast & Wellness Group, which includes Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Oprah Daily, Popular Mechanics, Best Products, and more.

The ideal person for this gig is obsessed with online shopping and finding the newest up-and-coming products. You should feel confident packaging commerce stories for success with compelling imagery, attention-grabbing headlines, and clear copy. Even better: You’re a pro at diving into data and using reporting tools to inform voice-y, shareable articles.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of merchants across the tech, home, and health spaces. You should be skilled at making data-driven decisions and seeking out new opportunities based on content trends. This position will report to the Director of Commerce Editorial.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage and top edit a team of commerce editors that produces and updates 60+ commerce stories per month for Hearst’s Enthusiast & Wellness Group.
  • Create and oversee the team’s editorial calendar, coordinating with site editors and commerce strategy managers to ensure each story fits the brand’s unique voice and style, while still driving revenue.
  • Track performance of content to inform and execute on new commerce opportunities across our various distribution channels (search, social, newsletter, paid, etc.).
  • Liaise with internal partners, including brand editors, commerce managers, and SEO managers, to ensure our centralized team is following all appropriate best practices.
  • Lead coverage efforts for major tentpole shopping events for the Enthusiast & Wellness Group.

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience creating and editing content at a digital-first outlet — strong preference for candidates with a background in commerce content.
  • Well-versed in editing and writing content across a variety of subjects and able to adapt voice and style to match brands and audiences.
  • Experience managing and mentoring full-time writers or freelancers.
  • Strong angling and packaging skills and excellent judgment as to what drives audience across various digital platforms.
  • Ability to understand analytics and translate them into editorial action — familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is a plus.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously and leading the content strategy for a team of writers.
  • Top-notch organization and communication skills; well-versed in building strong relationships with internal collaborators.
  • Available to work major shopping holidays.

The base salary for this role is between $83,000 and $90,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
