Summary: Utilize mechanical and electronic proficiency, machining and fabrication skills, manufacturing experience, and hands-on technical aptitude to design, fabricate, and assemble technical solutions that result in the creation of tooling, repairs to equipment, and upgrades to processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute mechanical application projects, in collaboration with engineering and maintenance, and under the direction of technical leadership, to create tooling, repair equipment, and upgrade processes. Responsible for creating, and contributing to, the design, fabrication, assembly and testing of parts, tooling, equipment repairs, and process upgrades, that result in improved reliability, quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Create machine drawings for new tools and mechanical components in accordance with GD&T standards.
- Provide Production, Maintenance, ad Engineering technical applications support. Recommend cost-effective changes in equipment, tooling, and process design to improve reliability, quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Source and requisition mechanical components; maintain relationships with vendors and coordinate with contractors as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent experience with tool design / fabrication and machine building and repair in a manufacturing environment.
- At least five year’s experience in design and fabrication of electro-mechanical components, equipment, and/or systems. Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, industry standard safety protocols, and design ergonomics highly preferred. Broad-based experience in machining, and mechanical applications required.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment, including being able to interact with equipment. Travel between local facilities, vendors, and training sites is expected. Must be able to be present in the manufacturing environment on a regular basis for extended periods of time and is therefore, subject to normal exposures to dust, heat, chemicals, and noise present in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD software. Strong skills in CNC, Bridgeport, Lathe, and other related machine shop equipment. Tool and die maker capabilities. Design, plan and assemble mechanical parts, tooling, and components for manufacturing equipment. Set up and test units, record data and follow through on changes. Engagement and communication to convey project progress through periodic written reports and verbal presentations.
