We are looking for an experienced full-stack Principal Software Engineer to join our fast-growing team and work on greenfield Insurtech products. You will join us at an exciting time as we evolve our portfolio from desktop/on-premises to cloud/SaaS.
You will play a key role in assisting in the design and implementation of our flagship commercial lines offerings,with your primary focus on leveraging SaaS technologies to build robust, scalable and reliable distributed systems.
This role is open to flexible and hybrid working arrangements, with expected office attendance of around 2 days per week, in Reigate or Cambridge. If Cambridge based, occasional travel to the Reigate office will be required.
The Role
Recommend, present and implement high-performance solutions, targeting Azure.
Liaise with project stakeholders, collaborating on architecture and design in the Cloud and SaaS space to ensure performance, scalability and cost-effectiveness.
Implement and refactor product code (C#, Angular), following best practices for maintainability, testability, and performance.
Stay up to date with relevant technologies.
Participate in requirements gathering and refinement with both senior business and engineering stakeholders.
Work with the QA team to ensure a high degree of delivery quality.
Review and debug code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks or technical debt.
Help continuously improve the agile development methodologies used.
Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to the teams’ coding best practices and standards.
Mentor more junior/inexperienced team members where required.
Proficiency in C# and the dotnet framework.
Proficiency in the design and development of responsive single-page web applications, ideally Angular.
Experience developing high-performance, scalable, resilient, dynamic and extensible software.
Exposure to MS SQL Server/Azure SQL beneficial.
Desirable, but not essential:
General knowledge of the insurance industry.
Performing a similar role in developing a greenfield SaaS enterprise-level application.
Azure certifications.
