Build your career with IU Health! We have an exciting opportunity available for a Manager, Strategic Sourcing (Direct Medical Supplies & Implants) to join the Supply Chain team at our Plainfield location.
Our Supply Chain Mission – Supply Chain Operations implements industry best practices through communication and collaboration to support patient care while proactively managing cost and services.
Responsibilities:
The Manager of the Strategic Sourcing team will be responsible for over $1B annual spend, the company's end to end sourcing of supplies, and will provide critical strategic sourcing leadership for the organization to deliver company initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Overall management of contract portfolio categories, including development and implementation of category strategy in coordination with key business partners (internal and external).
Oversees the strategic sourcing initiatives, typically resulting in negotiation of multi-million-dollar contracts with local, national, or international corporations.
The position will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional business units, to capture business requirements, analyze supply markets, develop appropriate sourcing strategy, evaluate and select prospective suppliers, and negotiate agreements that deliver best in class value to the organization.
Ensuring all contracts are managed throughout the contract life cycle from initial vendor/supplier outreach to development and execution of the sourcing process, awarding, monitoring, and follow-up communication.
Assesses and manages suppliers’ ability to support organization’s goals for achieving diversity and local spend targets.
Collaborates and builds strategy and shared goals with clinical effectiveness councils and other clinical stakeholder groups.
Provides guidance to and coaching to Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Specialists on the team.
Works closely with group purchasing organization (GPO) on strategy, benchmarking, and opportunities for the team.
Management of the appropriate implementation and retrospective analysis of initiatives by category.
Management of the team’s supplier relationships with local, national, and international corporations on behalf of health system based on assigned categories, develops strategic plans, monitors vendor performance, and conducts business reviews.
Manages supplier product risk out of the Supply Chain.
Manages the alignment and acceptance of all contract terms by departmental stakeholders such as Legal, Finance, IIS, and Supply Chain Operations.
Manages the development and execution of strategic short- and long-term goals for the department.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall strategy of supply chain and clinical effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a focus on healthcare management, business administration, supply chain management, or other analytical discipline. Master’s degree preferred, preferably with a focus on business or healthcare administration.
3-5 years of direct leadership experience required.
7-10 years of healthcare experience in focus area or related field is required, or equivalent combination of years, skills, and experience.
Requires experience in strategy management, team member development, presentation development, analytics, customer service, contract management, working with a GPO, navigating a complex organization, obtaining buy-in for system-level contracts from various business groups, contract negotiation, sourcing strategy development, and supplier relationship management.
Strong verbal, written, leadership, business acumen, strategic thinking, relationship building, collaboration, negotiation, data analysis, and DMAIC process improvement skills are required.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software applications; statistical software applications experience preferred.
Must be proficient in the use of Supply Chain business systems and tools.
Ability to balance tasks and multiple competing priorities.
Friendly, adaptable personality; maintains a positive attitude under pressure.
Professional with a high level of self-motivation and energy
Ability to work independently in a demanding environment with minimal supervision.
May be required to travel to various locations as needed.

Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
