New Graduates 

New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development. Welcome to 3E Critical Care Unit, a cutting-edge facility with 16 beds and a specialized focus on Pulmonary, Renal, Sepsis, Neuro, and Trauma patients, including post-partum complications. Pulmonary and Renal cases make up 70% of our population, while Trauma is efficiently managed, with seasonal fluctuations.

Nursing skills gained on this unit: 

  • Obtain CCRN and TCAR certifications
  • Develop strong bedside and procedural skills 
  • Understand and develop further skills in critical care
  • Time management & flexibility while managing patients ranging in acuity levels

Unit Successes and Designations

  • Our unit has recently become a closed model critical care unit. This means that our unit is covered 24/7 with a critical care doctor that has an office on the unit.
  • We have been recognized during our trauma redesignation as having zero deficiencies for our level trauma designation

Unit Culture Highlights: 

  • 10 Daisy award winners on this unit! 
  • Strong sense of unity and camaraderie amongst the team. Everyone leaves their shift at the same time. This small action signifies that everyone works together to assure that all patient needs are met. 
  • Several long-term team members dedicated to helping our patients and other RNs grow. Some of these team members have been around for 30+ and 20+ years! 

Qualifications 

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
