POSITION SUMMARY
The Glasgow Marriott is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and passionate Food Service Supervisor to join our Food & Beverage team. The Food Services Supervisor takes responsibility to supervise all Food & Beverage associates and maintains an engaged and focused team whilst assisting the smooth running of the department to drive wonderful guest satisfaction.
Undergoing exciting refurbishment in 2024, the Glasgow Marriott Hotel offers a welcoming comfort with a modern style, ideally situated in the city centre near premier attractions like OVO Hydro, Hampden Park, and the University of Glasgow. The impact you’ll make.
You will assist management in ensuring staff is working together as a team to ensure optimum service and that guest needs are met. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures and ensure uniform and personal appearance standards are adhered to. Welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate, and address guests’ service needs. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
All our Food Service Supervisors will be trained in all Food and Beverage outlets – the bar, restaurant, and room service and executive lounge to be able to support all aspects of the F&B operation. The successful candidate will be predominantly working in either room service and the executive lounge, or the resident’s bar.
What you’ll do.
- Oversee the smooth running of the Food & Beverage department (before, during and after service periods) and allocate daily jobs as required.
- Coach, guide and train all new and current members of staff to enable them to successfully contribute to the team objectives.
- To ensure that you and the team have a full product knowledge of all menu items, wine and drinks lists and their service.
- To always maintain a high standard of service within the restaurant and bar.
- Take part in detailed supervisor handovers.
- Complete daily reports in the diary of the figures achieved that day and any other relevant information from the day.
- Be responsible for security and safe handling of all equipment used within the department.
- Be responsible for departmental pay-ins, that all items are charged for correctly and that all items taken are charged for.
- Maintain safety by adhering to safety policies and be responsible to report accidents immediately. Support all safety programs. Ensure that proper safety instructions are given before operating any equipment. And work in a safe manner always.
- Deal with any issues that may arise to minimise guest complaints.
- This role also requires the ability to move and lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. In addition, you’ll need to be able to reach overhead and below your knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping, and move over uneven or sloping surfaces.
Who we are looking for.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who we anticipate will have worked in a similar role within the hospitality or travel and tourism industry. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is a fast learner, adaptable and has exceptional attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to be extremely efficient and professionally skilled in:
- Effective communication (verbal, listening, writing) and negotiation skills.
- Cocktail, Spirits and Wine Knowledge
- Proactive and reliable
- Responsible and highly motivated
- Responsible Service of Alcohol or Personal License Holder Certificated preferred.
