Purpose of Job
The role of the Energy Manager is to enable the client’s energy reduction programs through monitoring, targeting and interventions on building services. The role has a strong focus on supporting our contract dedicated Engineering Maintenance team to ensure that our client assets entrusted to us are maintained and operated as efficiently as possible.
Key Responsibilities
Building Performance Improvement
- Perform deep dive audits on the existing HVAC and Electrical Systems and identify opportunities / design gaps for optimisation through actionable recommendations.
- Responsible for the tactical delivery of BMS optimisation recommendations.
- Monitor data systems to determine ways of enhancing assets energy performance.
- Align with BGIS Building Performance team to ensure connected technologies are used effectively.
- Support the Data Led Migration of the infrastructure, when applicable, and act as the super-user of the BGIS AMI Platform where applicable.
Energy monitoring
- Review data analytics to identify adverse trends and anomalies and provide progress reports.
- Monitor energy in line with NABERS principles, under the governance of BGIS NABERS assessors.
- Manage energy related queries and investigate on site, including BMS interventions in conjunction with the Engineering Team
- Technical and operational oversight of utility/non-utility meter data collection to enable accurate monitoring, including management of gaps and drop-outs.
Engagement and governance
- Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Act as the gate keeper for maintaining buildings design operations (DESOPS) and provide appropriate change control process, identify, and remediate any deviations from the building’s DESOPS.
- Supporting the implementation of client energy/carbon efficiency recommendations
- Ensuring liaison with Engineering and Building Performance teams to support best practice.
- Develop Energy Champions forum including training and engagement to relay promotion of stakeholder awareness of energy and utilities usage.
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as an Energy Manager in the Building Services field.
- An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills, engineering controls expertise, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, as well as excellent communication skills.
- Experience of BMS/ automated controls related to Trend IQ Vision 4 and View 8, Triduum Niagara
- Familiarity with administration and management of modern database and information system technologies.
- Experienced with Energy Monitoring Software including eSight analytic platform.
Experience and Knowledge Essential Desirable Experience of working effectively with skilled operatives or contractors Yes Good understanding on the energy management system and principles of Net Zero Carbon strategy Yes Experience of safely working on a variety of installations, appliances, and equipment. Yes Good practical experience of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems Yes Understanding of BREEAM, EPC, NABERS, TM44, LEED or WELL and preferable accreditation in at least one of these. Yes Excellent understanding of health and safety within the built environment. Yes Practical knowledge of property related Health and Safety legislation applicable to electrical services (i.e., COSHH, PUWER Electricity at Work Regulations.)
