We are looking for someone with strong organisational and customer service skills to join Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) as a Critical Equipment Support Worker, and help ensure that operational staff across the county have the equipment they need to perform the vital roles they do.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is an ambitious organisation that is committed to making Norfolk a safer place. We work at the heart of community safety and protection, providing a robust and resilient emergency response service and ensuring efficient support to enable delivery of our emergency response. Ensuring that our staff have the right equipment to allow them to do their jobs effectively is crucial to the performance of our service, and that’s where this role comes in.
The core focus of the role will be to enable the successful and efficient day to day functioning of the Critical Equipment Department. Working as part of a team, this will entail a variety of different duties, all of which contributes to ensuring the correct equipment is in the right place at the right time. This will mean dealing with PPE, sizing and fitting staff, and issuing PPE to firefighters across the county. You’ll need to manage stock levels, making sure equipment is ordered, received and receipted, and that levels are regularly checked. You’ll also be involved in the delivery of equipment to stations, and will also help ensure that a round the clock emergency service is available to deal with any urgent issues. It’s a varied position, where you’ll need to use your initiative to juggle multiple priorities, and you’ll play an important role in enabling Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service to deliver a robust emergency response when required.
To be considered for the role you’ll need strong organisational skills and a positive, proactive, customer focused approach. We’re open to considering people from a variety of different backgrounds, but we think anyone who has experience in any form of logistics, warehousing, stock / store management or fulfilment would be a good fit. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with administration, who has a good all-round knowledge of IT systems (ideally including asset management systems), and first-class communication skills.
If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
Please note that this role has a requirement to be flexible to meet the demands of a 24/7 emergency service. This could include a requirement to work outside of core hours and at weekends in the event of major incident or events.
