What you’ll be able to do:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with expertise in hardware development for consumer electronics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the electrical systems and components of our products. Hardware Design: Lead the design and development of electrical components and systems for consumer electronics products, including PCBs, power management, and connectivity modules.
Component Selection: Select and source electronic components, including microcontrollers, ensuring that they meet product requirements and quality standards.
Schematic and PCB Layout: Create and review schematic designs and collaborate with PCB layout designers to ensure efficient and reliable circuit boards.
Prototyping: Build and test hardware prototypes, iterating designs to optimize performance and manufacturability.
Testing and Validation: Develop and implement testing procedures to verify the functionality, reliability, and safety of hardware components.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure a seamless product development process.
Compliance: Ensure that products meet regulatory and safety standards, collaborating with certification agencies as needed.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of hardware designs, test results, and design changes.
Cost Optimization: Seek opportunities to optimize hardware designs for cost efficiency without compromising quality.
The minimum requirements we seek:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of hands-on and detailed product design experience
5+ years of experience launching new products in the consumer electronics industry, from architecture through execution.
Strong knowledge of PCB design, embedded systems, power management, and connectivity technologies.
Proficiency in EDA tools for schematic design and PCB layout (e.g., Altium, Cadence, Eagle).
Experience with hardware testing and validation methodologies
Preferred Requirements:
· Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
· Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
· Knowledge of energy-efficient design and battery management.
· Project management experience is a plus.
· Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
· Experience with instrumentation of prototype vehicles in a controlled lab environment
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
· A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
· Experience deriving cost, manufacturability, reliability and failure modes tradeoffs from based on specific designs
