As the Data Science Manager, you should have a strong technical background and demonstrated experience in Data Science and AI/ML. You will be responsible for the delivery of analytical models and solutions as well as use your business acumen, knowledge of data, and AI to support key products within Pro Tech that focus on improving customer experience, increasing revenue, and improving efficiency across the business. 

 

You will be responsible for coaching and providing growth opportunities to direct reports. The Data Science Lead will be able to develop healthy relationships and trust with business stakeholders and peers across Ford Pro-Tech and Ford.

 

What you’ll be able to do:

Strategic Thinking & Leadership

  • Lead a team of data scientists to develop strategies for our products.
  • Collaborate with our business customers to understand business challenges and develop strategies for solving them using advanced analytics.
  • Help define and communicate product vision and delivery with key stakeholders.
  • Identify and measure the success of product efforts through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring key product metrics to understand trends.

 

Technical Leadership

  • Support technical reviews of analytical methods & solutions.
  • Support the prioritization of advanced analytic research needed to advance the product’s capabilities.
  • Hands-on leadership in developing analytical solutions.

 

Delivery Focus

  • Drive analytics products end-to-end in partnership with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
  • Influence product direction through clear and compelling presentations to leadership.

 

Team Development

  • Contribute towards advancing the Data Science discipline in Ford Pro through the Community of Practice, including but not limited to driving data best practices, improving analytical processes, scaling knowledge and tools, and mentoring other data scientists.
  • Promote and facilitate the learning and development needs of the team.
  • Support team members as part of the product delivery model.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g. Data Science, Predictive Analytics, Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Applied Mathematics, IT)
  • 5+ years of experience of analytical methods and their proper application
  • 5+ years of experience using data science software (e.g., R, SAS, Python-based tools)
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, agile product team environment/analytic delivery team.
  • 2+ years of experience in Automotive, Transportation, Digital Business, or Analytics Consulting
  • 2+ years of experience acting as the senior technical lead helping facilitate analytical/technical discussions on solution tradeoffs for new feature implementations.
  • 2+ years leading and managing direct reports.
  • Experience using Cloud Platforms

 

Our preferred requirements:

  • 5+ years leading and managing direct reports.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science)
  • Expert level of Advanced and Predictive Analytical Methods e.g., Simulation, Design of Experiments, Genetic Algorithms, Ensemble Methods, Naïve Bayes, Neural Networks, regression, image processing, natural language processing,
  • Experience using Gen AI technologies.
  • Working knowledge of GCP.
  • Expertise in open-source data science technologies such as Python, R, Spark, and SQL.
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Proactive, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem-solver.
  • Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities, and respond with urgency.
  • Consensus building and collaborative interpersonal skills.
  • Highly seasoned in organizational, time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
