Lead alignment data analysis and data mining for all Ford assembly plants. Lead tire room quality and process improvement actions. Support local management drives and quality trials. Provide core support for assembly plants and be “on-call” to support all vehicle/plant issues that require core support. Support/lead all core meetings and cross-function meetings with VO, plant, underbody, quality. Lead and oversee all quality dashboards with daily/hourly production plant data and manage online quality systems with project inputs, project health, and glidepaths. Support all plant vehicle quality reviews and review/bless all documents going into upper management reviews. Support and identify emerging issues and scope all issues properly. Support plant cost reduction and quality improvement efforts. Lead core support for all cross-function concerns (deep dive supplier quality data and root cause tire/wheel, and alignment body CMM data). Lead future model strategies for both alignment and tire/wheel from D&R part release as well as future state of the plant equipment / process.
What you'll do...
The ideal candidate will have spent a majority of their career working in a manufacturing environment leading the ride & handling attribute. The candidate must be well skilled in everything listed (vehicle alignment set process, vehicle alignment equipment, offline audit alignment equipment, plant layout, tire room equipment and layout, and how to analyze production data). In addition, the engineer must be able to perform subjective full vehicle evaluations and be able to take objective data measurements for both alignment, and vehicle vibration levels. Must have proven experience working on quality 8D issues, and have good ties with supplier and Ford STA teams. . Engineer must have launch experience of new vehicle line and or feature introduction.
You'll have...
• Bachelor’s degree Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent
• Five years’ experience in Production Plant PVT experience in an engineering role.
• Five (5) years experience working at a vehicle assembly plant as a ride & handling engineer.
• Three (3) years experience Statistical analytics ( DOE Gage R&R )
• Travel globally and support local assembly plants on short notice including dealer and
• Must have flexible work hours and have a hands-on mechanical aptitude.
Even better, you may have...
• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent
• 10 years’ experience in Production Plant PVT experience in an engineering role.
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certified or Black Belt Preferred
• Must be highly motivated and a self-starter that can operate without direct supervision. ‘
• Strong verbal and written skills as this role will require extensive rapid response to upper management.
• Understanding of the Ford warranty system and customer surveys and be able to quickly respond/report/identify field concerns.
