The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing material, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse. They will also be responsible for loading and unloading vehicles, as well as picking and packing orders.
Essential Duties:
- Receive, store, schedule, and distribute material within the warehouse environment.
- Ensure accuracy of all incoming and outgoing material.
- Operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting.
- Pick customer orders accurately.
- Ensure order fulfillment is complete and accurate.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately.
- Communicate with team members to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aids in the direction of daily shipping, receiving, line replenishment, and manufacturing activities.
- Ensures the efficient flow of ABI’s returnable container program, including ABI, supplier, and customer packaging.
- Makes decisions regarding day-to-day logistics activities.
Preferred Skills and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of 4 years related experience, or combination of continued education and experience.
- Must understand basic warehousing, manufacturing, and transportation functions.
- Must demonstrate competence in MS Office, Windows applications, and Internet applications.
- SAP R/3 experience is preferred, including the Inventory Management and Warehouse Management modules.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Must be able to work with data from several sources on a daily basis.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Valid drivers’ license and company-issued forklift license required.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
