Chemistry Lab Technician at ZelTech

Job Summary: 
 
 
The chemistry lab technician will involve sample preparation of organic compounds. The position is a temporary 4-month, 40 hours a week, doing chemical mixing and fabrication of samples using an established process. With project success, the position can transition into a full-time permanent status


 Responsibilities:

  • Use hand tools to remove and preparing the samples.
  • Use vent hood and the appropriate PPE to prepare samples.
  • Interface heavily with principal investigators, laboratory staff and technical leads.
  • Make complex decisions independently and referring unprecedented issues to technical leads while working under limited supervision.
  • Mix solgels and pouring into molds. 
  • Work collaboratively on teams by interacting with other scientists, engineers, and technicians. 
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analyses.
  • Prepare form reports for customers as required. 
  • Maintain accurate records of ongoing research and laboratory safety standards, as specified, and required by federal and international regulation.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate.
  • Complies with industrial hygiene and safety standards and requirements in the workplace.

 

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) or more years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree and four (4) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Academic lab experience.
  • Experience/proficiency in mixing organic compounds.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the willingness to solve complex problems using a systematic approach.
  • Experience working with complex chemical reactions (rates, gels, etc.)
  • Motivated to meet analysis deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures and health and safety concerns involving potentially hazardous agents.
  • Essential to the success in this role will be excellent verbal and written skills in the English language.
  • Must be eligible for a secret or high security.
  • Successful background and drug screening check.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Degree in chemistry.
  • Mechanical proficiency.
  • Certification in 40-hour Hazardous Material Technician course
