We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team at Rowden Technologies on a contract basis of 6 – 12 months. As a pivotal part of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our infrastructure and deployments to support our innovative modular information systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced and challenging environment.Key areas of responsibility
As a Lead Devops Engineer, you will be responsible for:- Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and Python
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment of applications
- Monitor and ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications
- Implement security best practices and maintain compliance with industry standards
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps methodologies into the development lifecycle
- Provide technical guidance and support in the adoption of DevOps practice
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in cloud computing and DevOps
Key skills, experience and behaviours
We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and who actively invests in their technical skills and abilities. You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:- Proficient experience in AWS services and architecture
- Experience in using Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) management
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools
- Understanding of Docker and containerization technologies
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize cloud-based environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- AWS Landing Zone experience
- Experience implementing IDAM and associated security controls
- AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) experience
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation
- Familiarity with additional cloud services and technologies
The ideal candidate will have a strong balance of technical skills and experience, and should be comfortable:
- Planning complex architectures at both a broad and detailed level
- Explaining those plans to business stakeholders of varying technical levels
- Taking complete ownership of architecture designs in a highly secure environment
- Providing clear documentation and architecture diagrams, plus surrounding governance documents
- Presenting and knowledge sharing skills, using whiteboards and other tools, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organisations.
