The Business Development Manager role holds responsibility for successfully delivering new business sales targets through the creation, development and conversion of an active sales pipeline in a B2B environment
. This is an independent self-gen business development role. Within reason, no limitation on sector or region providing opportunities fit within the business capabilities.
What that means day to day
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the products and service offering to effectively identify and articulate solutions
- Develop a targeted strategy to identify and win new business in line with annual targets
- Identify and develop opportunities and close business through consultative engagement with the client
- Create weekly/monthly forecasts on revenue to budget and produce end-of-month reports on revenue and market performance
- Work with the wider team to ensure a smooth customer journey throughout the sales process
- Ensure sales procedures are clearly defined and adhered to, including maintaining and keeping the CRM system fully up-to-date
- Develop key relationships with the marketing team to ensure that the plan reflects and supports the direction of the service and the sector/territory requirements
What you’ll need to be successful
- UKAS-accredited certification body experience
- Senior-level, client-facing sales experience
- Large contract tendering
- Identifying and approaching opportunities in line with the business's ideal customer profile
- Strong track record of delivery to new business targets
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships, and effectively manage stakeholders’ expectations
- Excellent communication skills; ability to present confidently and influence the thinking of senior buyers to close deals
- Ability to manage an active sales pipeline throughout differing stages of the sales process
- Comfortable in working independently
- Highly developed influencing and relationship management skills: both internal and external
- Excellent commercial awareness
