Cloud Engineer – Operations – Remote – US

We are hiring at Alliance Enterprises for a Cloud Engineer – Operations to join our team in the US!

The position supports Alliance’s customer hosting services. Perform moderate to increasingly complex cloud hosting-related work. Work involves deployments, upgrades, customer contact, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuration, and other security management duties. May mentor junior staff. This position works under limited supervision with some latitude for independent judgement or initiative.

The successful candidate can be anywhere in the US working in a remote work model!

What your day will look like:

  • Monitor and manage the security, health, and performance of customer-hosted environments
  • Perform application deployments and upgrades; configure and manage security and supporting software
  • Create, assign, and complete cases escalated from Customer Support team or other teams. Assists junior staff with case assignments as needed
  • Diagnose and resolve moderate to complex customer hosting and performance issues
  • Communicate status of open issues to manager or other leadership as needed, maintains quality of documentation on cases
  • Perform customer environment maintenance, including software patches, operating system updates, certificate management, and security enhancements
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements, enhanced information security, and automation, independently and as requested
  • Review internal and customer-facing reports to ensure system performance and to identify potential security risks
  • Manage the application and renewal of Domain Name System (DNS) certificates for
  • Customer environments
  • Stay current on security landscape and possible threats
  • Stay current on Alliance product evolution and emerging technology
  • Produce and review internal and customer-facing report to ensure system performance and to identify potential security risks
  • Contribute to goals and objectives
  • Ability to follow protocols to protect sensitive customer data in high-compliance environment
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to interact with all levels of corporate and client management as well as with vendors
  • Ability and willingness to adjust work schedule to provide on-call support for critical issues or for learning opportunities
  • Ability to apply a lesson-learned model with personal accountability and teamwork
  • Demonstrate an understanding of customer/partner requirements and of the position’s role in contributing to customer/partner success

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent years
    of experience
  • 2-4 years experience in a technical support role
  • 2+ years’ experience in information security, networking, firewall or related field
    Preferred Education and Experience
  • 2+ years working in Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • SQL and PowerShell coding experience
  • Microsoft Azure certification, or willingness and ability to acquire certification
  • Physical Requirements: prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, Operation of a computer and typical office machinery, must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
