The Program Management and Operations (PMO) team at Marqeta is central to the continued success and future improvement of many initiatives across Marqeta. We support an incredible product development organization and are intensely focused on providing the planning, alignment, and risk mitigation that leads to successful completion of our strategic investments.
We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on technical program manager to provide low-friction high-impact Agile transformation at Marqeta. This is where you come in.
We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!
What you'll do
- Analyze the existing projects, workflows, statuses, and other configurations in Jira to identify areas for improving operational efficiency, visibility, and collaboration.
- Evangelize Agile best practices, while developing close relationships with product and engineering teams to understand nuances that require customization.
- Develop Jira and Confluence dashboard standards that serve as a starting point for consistency in tracking metrics and KPIs.
- Coach teams on use of Jira Advanced Roadmaps.
- Provide full Technical Program Management of Jira and Agile improvement initiatives, from scoping/planning through execution and risk mitigation.
- Represent Agile transformation efforts in executive presentations and product development trainings.
- Investigate complex problems and design simple solutions for them.
- Question assumptions, validate hypotheses, and define key metrics for success.
- Communicate status and schedules, manage risks, help reports evaluate trade-offs, and call out challenges/blockers.
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience with Agile methodology in a medium to large organization
- In depth knowledge of modern software development lifecycles
- Proficiency in Jira, both from the viewpoint of a user and administrator.
- Familiarity with the use of Jira Advanced Roadmaps for dependency tracking and monitoring progress to deliverables.
- Successful change management experience, owning the definition and adoption of improvements across a large product development organization.
- 5+ years experience developing and managing technical programs and complex initiatives for software development teams from inception to stabilization for an engineering driven organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or two years equivalent training, fellowship or work experience.
- Ability to work independently and communicate across multiple time zones.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and active listener, with sufficient level of technical capability to effectively communicate with engineers and identify technical risks.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering complex projects and programs with cross-functional teams.

Compensation and Benefits
Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:
- National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
- Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
- Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
- National: $103,200 - $137,600
- Premium: $116,100 - $154,800
- Premium Plus: $129,000 - $172,000
