WHAT YOU WILL DO
onX is seeking a Geospatial Analyst with a passion for spatial data, maps and technology that enables our customer's outdoor pursuits. As an onX Geospatial Analyst, your focus will be on spatial data acquisition and curation. You will be a part of our Geospatial Data Operations team, within the larger "Where" domain, that is responsible for acquiring, processing, curating, and QC of map data. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a dynamic growing company focused on making an impact on the business, while producing the highest quality geospatial content in the outdoor navigation market. This position will report to a Geospatial Data Operations Manager.
As an onX Geospatial Analyst, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:
- Acquire spatial data from government sources and 3rd party providers
- Ingest data into the onX Content Management Platform using established protocols and tools
- Resolve Quality Control exceptions within data processing pipelines
- Resolve customer-submitted error reports
- Contribute to process improvement and documentation
- Support ad-hoc data processing needs
- Be an active and engaged Data Operations team member

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS/Geography or equivalent experience
- 2 years data management, processing and map editing experience using desktop GIS programs
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy while performing repetitive tasks
- Ability to read and modify existing SQL statements and Python code
- Strong enthusiasm for acquiring new skills and mastering emerging technologies
- A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
- Ability to travel bi-annually for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp
ADDED BONUSES
Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:
- Experience with Google cloud infrastructure, tools, and Big Query databases
- Experience with OpenStreetMap editing and data model
- Experience with cadastral data
- Experience using Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
- Familiarity with open source geospatial editing software, databases, and command line utilities
WHERE YOU CAN WORK
onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Connection Hub”.
- Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time, this is a great option.
- Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
- Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $65,000 to $75,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
