Role purpose

We have a great opportunity for a Security Operations Engineer to manage the security infrastructure with PIC.

You will monitor our security systems, promptly identifying and responding to security incidents, and ensuring strict adherence to PIC’s security policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Security Operations Team to design, build and continuously improve the security controls that ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of PIC’s systems, networks, and information assets.
• Assist the other members of the IT team to continuously assess the PIC environment and ensure that exposure to threats and prevalence of vulnerabilities remains within PIC tolerance levels.
• Work with the SOC, NOC, and internal IT teams to ensure proactive monitoring, investigation, and response to potential security incidents.

Requirements

Knowledge, experience, skills and abilities (technical competencies)

• Experience in a Security Operations role within a UK regulated organisation.
• Knowledge of managing cyber risk, including the development and implementation of key controls
• An understanding of cybersecurity principles, including Windows and Linux systems hardening techniques.
• Understanding of penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and intrusion detection.
• Familiarity with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models for comprehensive security coverage.
• Understanding of SIEM, EDR, and DLP solutions for effective threat management.
• Awareness of supplier and third-party security or risk management.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure is advantageous for cloud-based security solutions.
