The Opportunity
This isn’t your typical commercial litigation role. We are looking for an experienced and versatile commercial dispute resolution lawyer to join our Sydney team on a full time basis in this unique and newly created business development role.
This role would be ideal for a generalist commercial disputes lawyer with at least five years of experience in private practice. Previous client-facing experience in litigation business development (sales) is essential for this role. On a day-to-day basis, you will speak with inbound SME leads to gain an understanding of their dispute, with the goal of:
understanding their legal issues, and determining whether LegalVision can assist them;
providing initial strategic advice on how best LegalVision can help resolve their dispute;
scoping and quoting their dispute, and preparing initial cost estimates; and
assisting with their onboarding as a LegalVision client.
Once the scope of work has been agreed, you will then work with the Practice Group Leader to assign the matter to other team members to move forward with the client.
We assist with a broad range of general business disputes and contentious matters, largely for SME clients. Some of the contentious matters we assist with include (among others):
shareholder and directors disputes;
general commercial contracts disputes;
leasing, franchising, construction and employment disputes; and
copyright and IP infringement disputes.
The Ideal Candidate
Experienced: At least five years of solid law firm experience, specialising in commercial dispute resolution. Sales and business development experience in a legal (disputes) context would be highly desirable.
Communication: Great verbal and written communication is essential.
Commercial: Practical, pragmatic and focuses on what’s important.
Attentive: Brilliant attention to detail; nothing ever slips through the cracks.
Efficient: Prioritises effectively; focuses on what matters; delivers on time.
Autonomous: Likes help, but doesn’t need too much of it; owns their work and is capable of working independently; loves responsibility and working directly with clients.
Exceptional Client Service Skills: You love working with all types of businesses - big and small - and get a buzz out of providing them with the highest possible client experience, every time.
