The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a C-MAP Fellow to support envisioning and development of research initiatives on visual art, architecture, design, and cinema in Bombay/Mumbai through the twentieth century and into the twenty-first, for The Museum of Modern Art’s Contemporary and Modern Art Perspectives (C-MAP) initiative. Led by Lucy Gallun, Curator in the Department of Photography, and Rattanamol Singh Johal, Assistant Director of the International Program, the C-MAP Bombay/Mumbai Group is constituted of MoMA staff members from across curatorial and curatorial affairs departments. The C-MAP Bombay/Mumbai group will build on the research into South Asian modernism and contemporary art conducted through the C-MAP program between 2015 and 2019. We will focus on a single city, i.e. Bombay/Mumbai, exploring its rich cultural history in a transdisciplinary manner while also identifying and developing program possibilities at MoMA. Following the direction of the group leaders, and in consultation with the International Program Department, the Fellow will plan, execute, and document a program of monthly group meetings (in-person or virtual as needed) featuring scholars, artists and curators as well as group travel to the city/region of focus. The Fellow also collaborates actively with other C-MAP Fellows and International Program staff on organizing cross-group seminars as well as editing and maintaining the C-MAP website, post (post.moma.org). This is a two-year fellowship.
