What you’ll do
As the Product Sustainability Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Scout Motor’s sustainability initiatives with a focus on product lifecycle and circular economy principles, by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, external partners, and stakeholders to drive the adoption of sustainable practices and products.
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Execute life cycle assessments (LCAs) to:
- Analyze and identify impact reduction opportunities; and
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the product life cycle to enhance sustainability.
- Collaborate on development and implement Circular Economy Strategies:
- Ensure circular economy principles are integrated into product design, development, and end-of-life processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Compliance:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to integrate sustainability into the supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, managing reporting requirements.
- Product Design and Innovation for Sustainability:
- Work with product design teams to integrate sustainable materials and reduce resource consumption.
- Implement eco-design principles to enhance product recyclability and minimize environmental impact.
- Other duties as directed by the Environmental and Sustainability Manager.
Location & Travel Expectations: the responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will initially be based out of a Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline. Masters in environmental sustainability or related field would be a plus.
- 5+ years’ of professional work experience – academia years may offset professional work experience.
- Work experience preferences:
- Product design environment
- OEM or supply chain
- Sustainable materials, eco-design, material science, recycled streams
- Awareness of environmental, health, and safety regulations and best practices is a plus.
- Hands on knowledge of life cycle assessment and/or quantitative sustainability modelling.
- Solid experience and able to manage, organize, and optimize complex datasets, databases, and information to extract meaning and ability to identify influential impact points.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, succinct manner.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range: $100,000 - $120,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
