Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
Our Tactical Asset Planning Team includes a team of experts dedicated to the assets and customers in our Hafren Dyfrdwy area. This Asset Management - HD Team has an exciting opportunity to join as our new Senior Asset Engineer, with a specific focus on wastewater treatment and wastewater networks.
Do you have advanced data analysis skills? Do you have proven stakeholder liaison skills? Or perhaps you have a degree in a relevant Engineering, Scientific or Environmental Discipline?
If so, then read on.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Asset Management - HD Team has a clear vision – to be trusted experts and asset class specialists, who leverage the wider expertise of our Chief Engineer department, and provide a focal point for our Hafren Dyfrdwy Operational and Delivery teams. We work collaboratively to balance asset risk and performance across the investment portfolio, whilst understanding the local context of our customers and assets.
In this role you’ll be responsible for understanding, interrogating and effectively communicating our wastewater assets’ performance. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of a proactive risk methodology for the asset class and create robust investment plans which support the strategic vision for the company’s future.
You will work closely with other expert teams in both Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy. You will represent the business externally - actively participating and collaborating across the industry to support continuous development of our assets and provide insights to support business strategy.
This is an asset management role, rather than a direct engineering role. You will support prioritisation of investment, promote and review projects, and undertake Asset Management roles such as Project Sponsorship. You will be responsible for supporting the annual Business Planning process, translating our PR24 plans into a prioritised, deliverable plan, and building knowledge and insight to support PR29.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We’re seeking our new Senior Asset Engineer to be comfortable supporting our Tactical Asset Planning Manager as well as Senior Engineers within the team. The role will allow you the flexibility to pursue your passion for technical curiosity, whilst coaching and mentoring throughout the business to act as an asset class expert.
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally be a technical expert who has a good understanding of wastewater treatment processes and/ or hydraulic performance of sewerage systems.
You’ll also have experience in data management, hydraulic modelling, construction techniques and risk mitigation to aid decision making, along with a good understanding of project management lifecycles, project governance, and the business planning process.
The ability to present to stakeholders and contribute to communities of practice and steering groups meetings will be important.
As travel is required, it is also expected you will hold a full U.K driving licence.
The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude we want to talk to you too.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
