Exciting opportunity to be part of deploying and continuing to build the Westinghouse Design to Value (DtV) program. As a member of the Design to Value Core team, the candidate will be part of GOS Central team and reporting to the Director of Design to Value. The DtV Core team is responsible for driving competitiveness improvement of WEC offerings by the deployment of the Design to Value methodology, resulting in steady increase of the offering margin. Design to Value is a multidimensional, cross-functional approach which allows to identify cost and value drivers with the final goal to have products with the right features required by the customers at the market-based cost.
The Design to Value Champion will: Drive the deployment and utilization of the Design to Value methodology in assigned GOS divisions, product lines and/or BU’s, and incorporate DtV activities into the Flawless Launch product development processes. Lead the scoping, target setting, and overall project management of each deployment. Will be responsible for developing work plans and setting operational objectives for Core and Extended DtV Team Members. Identify and help teams to assess potential solutions to the complex aspects our business. The Champion will mentor, guide and train extended DtV team members on Design to Value methodology and ensure compliance with the DtV reference process. Develop processes and procedures for the DtV process and integrate it into Westinghouse product and solution development. Closely monitor and safeguard the idea implementation of ideas with the extended Design to Value teams.
Your day to day:
Project Management: With technical experience and business acumen, ability to effectively lead and drive cross functional teams across divisions and BU’s through the entire Design to Value process. Alignment of stakeholders, project scoping, target setting, project planning, and clear communication with Extended DtV teams. Coordination of Core DtV team subject matter experts.
Workshop Facilitation: Plan, organize, and facilitate large Design to Value cross-functional idea generation workshops. Clearly communicate expectations, baselining analyses with extended team and facilitate small and large group activities. Lead teams through idea prioritization and selection.
Lead Baselining Activities: Lead the baselining activities in competitive benchmarking, existing idea review, key buying factors, and functional requirement assessments. Ability to clearly prepare and present analyses to large groups in a workshop setting and to facilitate idea generation.
Drive Tangible Benefits: Lead efforts with extended DtV teams to select priority ideas, develop business case, drive implementation plans, and report impacts. Track overall action plans for project implementation with extended teams and ensure assigned Stakeholders achieve target KPI’s. Coordinate idea implementation into Flawless Launch product development activities.
Extended DtV Team Training: Develop instructional materials for extended Design to Value team members covering assigned elements of the DtV process, including details regarding baselining, idea generation, and idea maturation tasks. Lead training sessions with Extended DtV team members to orient them on the process.
Required to successful in the role:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline. MBA preferred by not required.
Minimum 8 years required; 10 plus years of progressive technical project leadership and/or commercial product management experience preferred.
Familiarity with Westinghouse product development and management processes and procedures
Prior SS/Lean certification is preferred but not required.
Must have strong technical ability and ability to communicate commercial basis for change
Ability to scope and run projects effectively and to influence without direct authority
Demonstrated willingness to challenge the status quo
Excellent facilitation and communication skills
