This position is hybrid in nature requiring 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse facility in Rock Hill, SC located @45-minutes south of Charlotte, NC. No relocation will be provided for this position. We are able to entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity.
Your Day-to-Day:
This position is responsible for the development/maintenance of Instrumentation and Control training materials using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) and in accordance with Westinghouse, INPO, and nuclear industry standards and best practices.
Personnel in this position will be expected to qualify as an instrumentation & Control (I&C) Classroom and Hands on Training Instructor.
Obtain and maintain assigned Instructor Qualifications:
- Attend training classes and Self-Study materials as necessary.
- Successfully pass systems examinations.
- Successfully qualify as an I&C Instructor
Develop, modify, and review lesson plans to ensure information is accurate and up to date:
- Gather pertinent information necessary for the development/revision of new and existing, training materials.
- Develop/modify various styles of written evaluation, items ensuring they meet industry standards and best practices, to evaluate trainee understanding of the presented training materials.
- Develop/modify Skill/Practical evaluation Items, ensuring they meet industry standards and best practices, to evaluate trainee proficiency with the presented training materials.
- Develop/modify lesson plans and student training materials utilizing adult learning theory/techniques to ensure effective training.
- Incorporate creative learning techniques and industry best practices into training material that promotes trainee involvement (such as role-play, case study, and instructional games).
- Develop/maintain knowledge of nuclear plant operations and I&C, disciplinary skills and techniques commensurate with assigned responsibilities, to provide effective, high quality training.
- Maintain training materials in the proper Learning Management System (LMS).
Perform Instructional Duties as assigned under the supervision of a qualified instructor until qualified to perform the task independently):
- Prepare to teach.
- Teach in the classroom/simulator/laboratory.
- Administer examinations.
- Sequester students.
- Coordinate production/distribution of pertinent training materials.
- Drive personnel performance improvement through the use of training.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/management:
- Examples would be to attend meetings, support other internal/external organizations utilizing system/operational experience.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and use of database programs.
- Demonstrate good organizational skills, good oral and written communication skills and have strong presentation/facilitation skills
- Exhibit professional work ethic.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time to remote locations.
- Ability to work occasional long hours, rotating shifts, and weekends.
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain unescorted access at a Nuclear Power Plant.
Nice-to-Have:
- 2 years I&C instructional related experience.
- Working knowledge of the associated Training procedures, INPO documents and NRC regulations.
- Working knowledge Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) systems.
- Working Knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training to carry out assignments associated with the development, and implementation of training materials.
- Knowledge and ability to write test questions that meet nuclear industry standards and best practices.
- Instructional learning certification
- Instrumentation and Control Technician with nuclear experience
- Multilingual
